Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected during a visit, why it is used, and the limited circumstances in which another party may receive it. By continuing to use Chilton County Criminal History, you accept the practices stated below.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or location entered in a search box is sent to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not keep a separate log of the terms entered into those partner searches.

Messages and Contact Submissions

An email or other direct message may be retained long enough to answer and maintain the related correspondence. It is not shared outside our organization unless disclosure is legally required.

Data We Gather Automatically

When a page loads, server and analytics systems may collect basic technical information about that visit:

  • Page-view dates and times
  • The device's assigned IP address
  • Browser name and version
  • Operating system and device category
  • Visited pages and approximate time spent on them
  • A referring site, when one is supplied

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files stored by a browser. They and outside analytics services help combine traffic information, such as popular pages and common exit points. A browser can block or remove cookies, although doing so may change how some site functions behave.

What We Do With This Data

  • Routing a submitted query to the selected search partner
  • Maintaining site availability and page speed
  • Finding and correcting technical faults
  • Measuring which content visitors use
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

Chilton County Criminal History does not host, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to the Chilton County Sheriff's Office, criminal courts, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency repository, and Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Sex Offender Registry. Visitor data is not assembled into third-party records or consumer reports, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the search tools. Their own privacy policies govern submitted queries, retention, and any later disclosure. We do not direct those practices. Read the provider's terms and privacy policy before entering information.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to the Sheriff's Office, court portals, Alabama agencies, legal resources, or commercial search services. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's privacy rules apply. Review them before providing personal information.

Advertising companies may use their own technology to measure activity across sites and select ads. That processing occurs on systems they control.

Who Might See Your Data

We do not sell personal information. Data may still be disclosed to:

  • Analytics providers that measure traffic and site performance
  • Search partners that process a query submitted to their tool
  • Advertising networks serving material on the pages
  • Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal demand

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable technical and organizational safeguards are used for collected data. No internet system is completely secure, however, so uninterrupted security or the absence of a breach cannot be guaranteed.

Users Under 18

The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If such information is identified, a request may be made for its deletion.

Your Data Rights

Applicable law may provide additional rights. Alabama public-record access is governed principally by the Alabama Open Records Act, Ala. Code § 36-12-40, while criminal-history access and dissemination are addressed by Ala. Code §§ 41-9-601 and 41-9-643. Subject to the law and the data actually held, a visitor may:

  • Object to certain forms of processing
  • Request access to personal information on file
  • Ask that inaccurate information be corrected
  • Request deletion where the law permits it

Updates to This Policy

This policy may be revised as site practices or legal requirements change. A revised version will appear here with its new effective date.
